The name “van Kuijk”, that is the name I, Coen van Kuijk, got from my father and the name that I, in turn, gave to my sons. But what does such a name mean? Where does it come from and who else has or had this name?
Those are the questions that started to come to my mind. I never knew my grandfather Marinus Antonius van Kuijk and that is why I became more and more curious about my ancestors. Who were they, where did they live and what did they do. But the question is, how do you get to know more about them. I started searching the internet and found the website of Leontine Wijman-Engelman. She is the daughter of Kees Engelman and Miem van Kuijk and she had a website of the genealogy of the Wijman-Engelman family. In there was also data from her mothers side about the van Kuijk family and ancestors. I contacted her about this data and used it as the start of my own investigation into the van Kuijk family tree.
With the data I collected back then I did nothing for a couple of years, until I became the father of 2 beautiful sons Job Logan van Kuijk and Luuk James van Kuijk. A new generation of van Kuijken was born (Job, Luuk and their nephews Lars van Kuijk and Nick van Kuijk, the sons of my brother). Then I knew it was time to start collecting data again so they would know their ancestors. When I first started my goal was to collect as much individuals as possible, but now my focus shifted to document the history of the van Kuijk family as detailed as possible with pictures, videos, documents and stories.
All the collected data will be published on this website so that the whole family (including all the overseas members of the family in Canada, Australia, Indonesia, America and who knows where else) can read it and look at the photos, videos and documents. And if anyone visiting this site has any information, photos, documents or videos about the family, please contact me through this site. Then we can arrange to get it published on the site.
